Drupal
I was fortunate enough to be one of the 60 attendees from 40 of Europe's key Drupal companies to descend on the Microsoft offices in Amsterdam. A long but fruitful weekend was spent discussing process, project management, marketing, sales, QA, testing and much more.
Our friends over at the Brighton Drupal Association put together this video, which is a really good three minute overview of what actually constitutes Drupal (more than just code).
We're really proud to have just signed up to sponsor Drupalcon London 2011. As the Drupalcon fast approaches we are becoming more and more excited by the opportunity it provides not just us but the Open Source community in the UK.
This morning 3 years of hard work by tens of thousands of people finally came to fruition, Drupal 7.0 is now released! It took longer than most people thought, but the final product is undeniably worth it. All the hard work really shows with increased usability, a more intuitive core and much slicker interface.
In the first of a short series of blog posts, each member of C&W is going to highlight their favourite Drupal site of the moment and explain a little about what they like about it.
Small but significant is the small blue Facebook icon on the bottom of this billboard in London Bridge tube station. I took this photo a couple of weeks ago, happy to see that print and digital are joining forces. It has seemed to me at times that print has been dragged kicking and screaming to meet digital. Hopefully this is a sign that they may play nicely together. It is the classic story of old meets new and old is not too keen on changing.
I have always considered the UK to be something of a leader when it comes to online technologies and web. Sure, we are not in the same league as the US, but we can hold our own internationally with sites and innovations like lastminute.com, Wolfram Alpha and BBC iPlayer. So I was interested to see how the UK compares to it's European brothers and sisters for Drupal.
At a great session on 'Effective Marketing in a Changing World', run by Business Link and presented by Grant Leboff, I spoke with a number of SME owners. Many of these owners did not understand, do or even think about blogging.
