Our development work starts with a thorough scoping phase of the requirements. This forms the foundation of the functional specifications and the information architecture. The functional specifications details all the features of the site and how they will function. The Information Architecture describes how the content will be structured and inter-related.
C&W then work with the client and design partner to identify the key visual themes and requirements of the site. From this we create a set of designs, once these are signed off development can begin.
During development we keep the client updated with weekly progress reports highlighting our progress and any issues we encounter. Once development is complete we thoroughly test the site in house before we present to the client for acceptance testing.
We see the go-live of the site as the beginning of a relationship with the client. We often engaged to provided training, support or develop further functionality.
C&W have worked on several high profile websites which utilise the powerful Ubercart platform. Ubercart is much more than just an online store, it can allow you to monetise your site with features such as premium membership, paid downloads and selling advertising space.
Although Drupal includes its own search engine, when search is an important feature, C&W recommend using Apach Solr, which provides much more powerful search functionality. Apache Solr is an open source enterprise search platform. Its major features include powerful full-text search, hit highlighting, faceted search, dynamic clustering, database integration, and rich document (e.g., Word, PDF) handling. Solr is highly scalable, providing distributed search and index replication, and it powers the search and navigation features of many of the world's largest internet sites.
