Along with the main Nuffield Foundation site, Cameron & Wilding worked with Public Life to develop the site for the Nuffield Council on Bioethics.
The Nuffield Council on Bioethics is an independent body that examines and reports on ethical issues in biology and medicine. It was established by the Trustees of the Nuffield Foundation in 1991, and since 1994 it has been funded jointly by the Nuffield Foundation, the Wellcome Trust and the Medical Research Council.
The Council on Bioethics provides a public forum for the discussing of contemporary issues such as the impact of biofuels, the ageing society and the ethical implications of DNA fingerprinting.
About the Site
The majority of the content is in the form of Reports and Projects. The work of the Council is divided into current projects, which are still in a consultation period, and reports (or previous projects), in which the content gathered during the consultation is analysed and written up as a report.
This workflow is reflected in the information architecture of the site. Reports and Projects are the same content type which changes states when, when a checkbox is checked. This means all the content created when the project is in the consultation period is "archived" and remains available along with the analysis and write up content.
Along with the main section of reports and projects there are several supporting sections. The Activities sections contains detailed information on events, education activities and public consultations. The News section contains easily searchable news items for both the Council and individual projects. This includes an easy to use Archive section, which allows users to browse through 15 years of content.
